Philadelphia’s 100k houses receive 2011 Housing Award from The American Institute of Architects

The 100k houses, which were created by Postgreen Homes and Interface Studio Architects, received the 2011 Housing Award. The 100k houses focused on building and designing homes that were affordable, modern and environmentally friendly. The houses use up to 75% less energy than a typical home due to the home being built  with simple materials and using energy-efficient products. The 100k houses started as a project one team put together to create a LEED ( Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) home for $100,000 in total for hard construction costs. In the end, the 100k houses have been recognized for their achievements by winning numerous awards. For more information about the 100k houses you can visit the 100k blog.
